Twitter feed of CPAN updates
Perl add-on modules are managed on CPAN. Now rjray ( http://rjray.org , http://use.perl.org/~rjray/ ) has created a twitter-bot to track the changes. Very cool! Plus there is a feed automatically from twitter, so now you can get the updates in an RSS reader too!

Internet Explorer cache setting on Samsung i760
"...
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet\Settings\5.0\Cache\Content
Change the DWord "CacheLimit" from a whopping 32768kb (32 megs!?!?) to a more manageable 2048 (2 megs) or 3072 (3 megs).
..."
I am copying this from pdaphonehome because this is really good info we don't want to lose!
New Google Maps Mobile locates you without GPS
Download the newest Google Maps for PocketPC - turns out it can locate you by your cell tower. Very cool!

Vista Folder Template Views
One of my main complaints with Vista (the other is search) is that if Vista suspects there is a picture or an audio file anywhere around it changes the folder view from the familiar columns (Name, Date Modified, Type, and Size) to some freakish star-based columns. I have been searching for almost a year for a foolproof way to fix this. After Googling this for the millionth time I happened on http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/720912.html . The advice is contradictory and confusing, but I was able to put together the following method for finally resolving my problem (hopefully). YMMV:
- Pick a folder under C:\, and left-click it in the left explorer pane to bring up a view of it on the right.
- Right-click and choose Customize - set to first view template, click ok.
- Set DETAILS view and NAME, DATE MODIFIED, TYPE, and SIZE headers, sort on TYPE.
- Choose Tools/Folder Options from the Explorer menu.
- From the view tab, choose "Apply to folders".
- Go back and do the same for all other view templates.

Watch the video on Amazon's page. This thing is amazing. This whispernet network has a lot more applications too... Groundbreaking device, wow!
Evernote for Windows Mobile
Finally! After literally years of waiting (for me and others) Evernote has heard our whining and complaining and made some strides on getting a PocketPC and Smartphone version of Evernote out. It's not even a beta, but at this point we're just happy to see anything! Way to go EverNote!

i760 MMS issue and possible new today screen
http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=4618
This is a today screen replacement hacked from HTC that looks nice - but seems to be causing looping reboots for some people - perhaps when it gets more stable...
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsung-sch-i760/93850-mms-2.html
So lots of folks are having the messy MMS problem. Doesn't look like there is a clean solution either. From our experience do not call Verizon on this - they will whack you!
i760 combo cable now available
So there are several configurations, but the basic idea is data and power over one cable like it should be.

Tubes
This so reminds me of Ray Ozzie's (think Lotus Notes and now Microsoft) Groove - peer to peer "containers", kind of like a content VPN with some application handling built into it.
Good info on Open Social
Here's a good explanation of the Google API "Open Social" for apps on social networks, from Marc Andreessen.
Black Friday
A site that aggregates flyers for upcoming Black Friday, before they come out. Basically industrial espionage, but for consumers. How helpful! Now you know whether to strike on that Woot (http://woot.com) or not...

The perfect PC for almost everyone these days
A sub-$200 pc running Ubuntu with a lot of links to Google online apps. The future is here - perfect for everyone except gamers. I wouldn't be surprised if these flew off the shelves for Christmas - if not this year the next.. Thanks Paul!
